Carmignano comes from the selection of the best grapes of Sangiovese (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
It is the only DOCG in Italy in which the use of Cabernet Sauvignon is obligatory with Sangiovese grape, since thanks to the history of the Medici's Family, Carmignano was born from the blend of Sangiovese and the "French Grape" that was Cabernet. The grapes are fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, as they have different ripening times.
After malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are blended and left to mature in 25hl large casks for a minimum of eight months. After bottling, our Carmignano remains in bottle for a further eight months.
We recommend serving it in full-bodied red wine glasses at 18°C.
