Il Fondatore was born as a cru from the first vineyard planted by Enrico Pierazzuoli, from whom it takes its name. It is a vineyard of 100% Sangiovese.
Only the best hand-picked Sangiovese clusters will give birth to our cru.
The typical floral note of Sangiovese is evident in Fondatore with hints of lavender and violet accompanied by hints of rhubarb and pipe tobacco.
Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel, including malolactic fermentation, followed by a minimum of twelve months of maturation in 10hl barrels. Following bottling, Il Fondatore remains in bottle 12 months before release.
